Am Freitag, 17. April 2009, wurde das Mitglied des Popular Committee of Bil'in (Bürgerkomitee von Bil'in), Bassem Ibrahim Abu Rahmeh
(29 Jahre) auf der wöchentlichen gewaltfreien Freitagsdemonstration gegen die
Mauer von der israelischen Armee umgebracht. An der Demonstration waren außer
den Bewohnern des Dorfes Bil'in die israelischen
Anarchisten gegen die Mauer sowie belgische Aktivisten gegen die Besatzung
beteiligt. Bassem Ibrahim Abu Rahmeh wurde aus kurzer
Entfernung von einem 40 mm Tränengasgeschoss, das mit Hochgeschwindigkeit aus
kurzer Entfernung auf ihn abgezielt wurde, im Brustkorb getroffen und war
sofort tot.
Das Dorf Bil'in demonstriert seit
Februar 2005 an jedem Freitag gewaltfrei gemeinsam mit Israelis und
internationalen Unterstützern gegen die Trennmauer, die 60% seines Ackerlands
und seiner Olivenhaine von ihm abtrennt.
Die Internationale Liga für Menschenrechte verlieh dem Popular Committee von Bil'in und den Israeli Anarchists
Against the Wall
(Israelische Anarchisten gegen die Mauer) erst im vergangenen Dezember die
Carl-von-Ossietzky-Medaille in Auszeichnung der Zivilcourage beider
Friedensgruppen und ihres herausragenden Einsatzes für die Menschenrechte beim
gemeinsamen Gewalt-freien Widerstand gegen die Trennmauer und die israelische
Besatzung.
In Trauer und Zorn klagt die Liga die Regierung Israels wegen
dieses Verbrechens an.
Zugleich beschuldigt die Liga die Regierungen der EU und
namentlich auch die bundesdeutsche Regierung, die bis zum heutigen Tag
stillschweigend hingenommen haben, dass palästinensisches Land durch den
Mauerbau vom israelischen Staat illegal annektiert und dass auf den
gewaltfreien Widerstand durch Israel mit Selbstjustiz, Mord und Übergriffen auf
Leben und Eigentum der Palästinenser im besetzten Gebiet reagiert wird.
Israel und seine ''Freunde'' stehen nicht über
geltendem Völkerrecht!

On Friday, 17 April 2009 the Israeli army
killed Basem Ibrahim Abu Rahmeh (29 years), a member of the Popular Committee of Bil'in, during a weekly non-violent Friday demonstration
against the Wall.
The demonstration was joined by
inhabitants of the Bil'in village, by the Israeli
Anarchists Against the Wall and Belgian as well as
other international activists against the occupation.
Bassem Ibrahim Abu Rahmeh was shot from
a short distance with a 40mm high speed tear gas
ammunition targeted at his chest which lead to his immediate death.
The people of Bil'in
together with Israeli and international activists have been demonstrating
against the wall, separating the village from 60% of their agricultural land
and olive groves, ever since February 2005
Last December the International League for
Human Rights awarded the Popular Committee of Bil'in
and the Israeli Anarchists Against the Wall with the
Human Rights prize, the Carl-von-Ossietzky-Medal, for
their courageous and outstanding contribution to human rights jointly and nonviolently resisting the separation wall and the Israeli
occupation.
In sadness and anger the League accuses
the Israeli government of this crime.
Likewise the League holds the EU
governments and in particular the Federal German Government accountable for
having to this date tacitly tolerated the illegal annexation of Palestinian
lands by Israel's construction of the wall and at the same time condoning
Israel's practice of arbitrary law, of murders and attacks on life and property
in response to the non-violent actions of the occupied Palestinians claiming
their rights.
Israel and its ''friends'' are not above
prevailing international law!
